It is hard to imagine that Fuengirola has its roots in a tiny fishing Village nestling on the shore of the Mediterranean.
Situated only 25kms from Malaga International Airport ease of access has been a major factor is ensuring the growth and popularity of this renowned Costa del Sol town.
Fuengirola is now a large working town with over 7kms of superb beaches with an extensive promenade stretching from the Solhail Castle in the west through to Torreblanca in the East. Along the promenade there is a wide choice of restaurants bars and hotels to suit all tastes.
The town itself has every facility that you could want with a variety of shopping including boutiques and high street names interspersed with tapas bars and restaurants. The main square, the Plaza de La Constitución is a great starting point for exploring this fascinating town.
On the outskirts of Fuengirola the New Myramar shopping centre offers good indoor shopping facilities together with a commercial park and Cinema complex etc. In front of the shopping centre there is one of the largest skateboard parks in Spain.
Golf courses and every sporting facility you can imagine are within easy reach and during the summer season the Castle (El Castillo) is host to many concerts and fayres. The Feria in Fuengirola which takes in October is one of the last of the summer season and, indeed, one of the largest. The large Feria ground is located to the East of the Town Centre.
Fuengirola is also home to the Mijas water park which is situated just off the ring road.
For those wishing to travel further afield Marbella and Puerto Banus are about 30 minutes’ drive.
Because Fuengirola is predominantly flat it is popular with the retirement market.
